David Burrowes presents a Ten-Minute Rule Bill to ensure fair child maintenance for children of self-employed parents who are able to hide assets from the Child Maintenance Service who can only base their calculations on gross taxable income figures from HMRC.
David Burrowes highlights the importance of the prinicple of parental responsibility as the basis for the ongoing maintenance of children. He calls on the Government to reinstate the opportunity of redress through the courts when resident parents apply for a variation so any variation awarded can be based on the findings of a tribunal rather than solely reliant on the taxable income based of Revenue and Customs data.
