On 15th March, local MP David Burrowes sought confirmation on the Government’s intentions for benefit cuts. Mr Burrowes has led previous cross-party attempts to ensure that benefit cuts are compensated with alterative support.
Last week, Mr Burrowes asked the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions to make it ‘crystal clear’ that Personal Independence Payment (PIP) assessments ‘will look at disabled people as individuals and not just label them by their health condition or impairment’.
The Secretary of State, Damian Green MP replied: “I am happy to confirm that. I am determined that we maintain progress in that direction so that people who have a disability—whether a physical or mental impairment—can lead as full a life as possible”
