Last week, local MP David Burrowes spoke in an urgently called debate in the House of Commons about cuts to Housing Benefits.
After the Government made a statement on changes to the automatic entitlement to housing costs for some 18 to 21-year-olds, David Burrowes said: "The YMCA tells me that, from April, it may not be able to house young people with the most complex needs, those with addictions and mental health conditions, those who may not be able to learn or earn, and those who cannot or will not stay at home or, indeed, access temporary accommodation”.
Mr Burrowes went on to urge the Minister to defer changes for those most at risk of homelessness until the outcome of the supported housing review is known.
The Minister said: “Absolutely: those with complex needs and mental health conditions will be exempt from this policy”.
The North London Hospice is looking for at least two trustees to join its Board.
