David Burrowes welcomes Government initiative to raise money for local charities
13th March 2012
Localgiving.com, a website set up in partnership between Marcelle Speller, former Secret Millionaire, and the Community Foundation Network, now allows smaller, local community organisations to fundraise online like never before. The website is specifically aimed at smaller organisations, and even allows those not registered as charities to raise money. Because donations are going through and approved by CFN, HMRX and the Charity Commission, Local Giving is the only place online where people can donate to unregistered charities and use Gift Aid.
LocalGiving.com raised almost £300,000 in donations for local charities as part of the Christmas Match Fund supported by the government this past year. March begins yet another match fundraising campaign, this time with matching capabilities of up to £375,000.
David Burrowes said: “I welcome this new initiative which is specifically aimed at helping smaller voluntary organisations to raise the money they so desperately need. I strongly urge Enfield residents to get involved. Lets make giving local!”
