Enfield MPs celebrate International Women's Day and Launch Diamond Jubilee Women of Achievement Awards
9th March 2012
Next Tuesday 13th March, David Burrowes MP will be launching the Diamond Jubilee Women of Achievement Awards at an event held at Naree Shakti to mark International Women's Day. The event will be taking place from 11am-1pm at the Trinity at Bowes Church and bookings can be made on 0208 888 6759.
Enfield residents will be asked to nominate women they feel should be commended for their achievements. Nominations will be judged by Cllr Anne-Marie Pearce and the Mayor Christina During, with awards being given out in May.
David Burrowes said: "These awards are designed to honour the women we know and love who have made unique contributions to our local community. I am launching this award at an event to mark International Women's Day, which has over the years played such an important part in recognising and uplifting those groundbreaking women who have achieved so much in our society."
The Awards have received cross-party support from the other two Enfield MPs, Nick de Bois MP and Andy Love MP, and they too will be asking members of their constituency to put forward nominations.
Please get in touch with your local MP's office if you would like to nominate someone. Further information please call 0207 219 5414.
