Local MP welcomes Government decision to maximise discounts for those using the Right to Buy Scheme
4th April 2012
David Burrowes MP has welcomed the Government’s recently announced decision to maximise discounts for tenants purchasing their homes through Right to Buy. The discount has now increased to £75,000 which will more than quadruple Enfield’s current discount cap of £16,000.
The Government is also determined to maintain the number of affordable homes for rent and, for the first time, homes that are sold will be replaced by new affordable homes, helping councils meeting housing need and revamping the housing sector.
David Burrowes said: “I very much welcome the Government’s plans and believe they will provide tenants who have the Right to Buy or Preserved Right to Buy with a real incentive to buy their homes. I encourage both the Council and Enfield residents to make the best use of this opportunity.”
